At Kamili our mission is to provide equal access to services and affordable care, as well as to improve the quality of life of those suffering from mental health illnesses in Kenya.
The vision of Kamili is to continue to maintain and expand the current two clinics in Nairobi, plus provide a monthly mobile mental health facility in Nairobi district that can work in conjunction with existing primary health care facilities. This facility would provide accurate diagnosis, treatment, and support to patients and their families as well as provide psychosocial care in the form of education and increasing awareness around mental health issues in the community. There is no such mobile facilty currently available in Kenya.
The two clinics now support 2,000 clients and their families - this number is constantly increasing.
At Kamili we believe that providing diagnostic and community social support is not enough and so Kamili is hoping to allow sufferers and their families to provide for themselves through a microfinance income generating scheme. We have also recently run a campaign in the local community to raise awareness about the symptoms and stigma associated with mental health.
Our occupational therapy programme is providing patients with a transferable skill to allow them to become income earning members of their families.
NEW! KAMILI IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR STUDENTS SPONSORSHIP TO COMPLETE THEIR MENTAL HEALTH TRAINING.
